What the Role Is (Description)

The Quality Assurance Processing Technician is responsible for monitoring product quality and developing solutions to complex problems. The Technician will exercise independent judgement and discretion in decision making, considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions.

This is a 3rd shift position, Monday-Friday, 11:00pm-7:00am, with occasional overtime required.

How You Will Spend Your Time? (Responsibilities)

  • Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with standards and specifications
  • Compile and interpret results of tests and analyses
  • Conduct sensory sampling of bottling tanks
  • Proficient computer skills with experience utilizing electronic mail software and Microsoft Office software
  • Provide and maintain a safe work environment by participating in safety programs, committees, or teams and by conducting laboratory or plant safety audits
  • Maintain, clean, or sterilize laboratory instruments or equipment
  • Provide technical support or assistance to chemists or engineers
  • Adjust shop orders to reflect processing defects, using formulas to correct or salvage product
  • Demonstrate leadership and provide guidance to the shift processing operators working within a union environment.
  • May be required to work other shifts as circumstances dictate.

Who You Are… (Requirements & Qualifications)

  • Associates Degree in Technical or related field or may substitute equivalent years' of related work experience
  • Five (5) years previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required
  • Chemistry — Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
  • Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Complex Problem Solving — Identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Quality Control Analysis — Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Technical skills in quality assurance
  • Demonstrates strong initiative and self-direction

Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Technical or related field
  • Experience in the distilled spirits industry

Physical Requirements
While performing duties of job, employee is occasionally required to stand and climb stairs; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, and use of computer; reach with hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Frequent and extensive walking required in this position.
