Primary Responsibilities
The Sacramento office currently has an opening for an Advisory Services Consultant to join our team. Primary responsibilities for this position are to support the Advisory Services team on a range of projects including strategic plans, funding strategies, grant writing, capital planning, digital advisory, business process improvements, master planning, and other services within the Advisory Services umbrella. The tasks supported by this position will include the following:
- Perform consultant activities such as conducting research, developing strategic approaches, and identifying solutions to solve complex business issues
- Prepare documents and presentations for clients
- Coordinate with clients and present on own or with Principal Consultants
- Serve as project manager or deputy project manager
- Support Scope of Work and budget development for proposals
- Efficient use of the internet and other electronic and hard copy media for research
- Strong Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project and Visio skills
- Expert Microsoft Access and Excel skills
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to compile and present summary level information
- Ability to obtain, cleanse, merge and analyze data from multiple sources
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong relationship, organizational and follow-up skills
- Self-starter with proven track record of accomplishments
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

This role also includes a marketing component to help develop the strategy, brand, and materials for the Resources Advisory Services Team. Marketing tasks at the onset are estimated to be 30-40% of the role to develop and implement the marketing plan for Advisory Services. After the marketing plan is developed and implemented, the general Advisory Services marketing would be on the order of 15-25% of the role.
The initial marketing tasks will include:
- Develop and maintain marketing information.
- Lead development of a RBG Advisory Services brochure.
- Assist with the development of templates for Advisory Services presentations and proposals.
- Provide support on presentations and other internal and external communication.
The longer-range marketing tasks will include:
- Serve as the marketing manager liaison with local Areas and RBG Sectors & BGX partners.
- Coordinate with RBG Communications team on Advisory Services news.
- Lead the development of a quarterly newsletter.
- Provide advisory support to team on internal and external communications.
The primary focus of this position is within the Resources Business Group, which includes Power, Industrial, and Waste Sectors. However, this position may support other HDR Business Groups on Advisory Services projects.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Business, Policy, Communications or related fields
- Experience working at a consulting firm
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a collaborative team as well as independently
- Willingness to support a wide variety of Advisory Services projects and learn new skillsets
- Some travel required

The expected compensation range for this position is $124,201.00 - $150,816.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
