Summary of Job Duties:
The Collegiate Recovery Specialist for the University of Arkansas SEAR Program at Pat Walker Health Center is responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of collegiate recovery programming, meetings, and campus outreach efforts in coordination with the SEAR Program Coordinator. Collaboration with recovery efforts at the University of Arkansas to implement campus-wide substance-free programming and harm reduction strategies and maintain a commitment to the establishment of a recovery friendly campus. Additionally, the position is responsible for providing oversight of the Razorback Recovery Community, facilitation of recovery ally trainings, and participation on the Substance Use Disorder Treatment team. Provide substance abuse coaching, facilitation of groups, outreach, and referrals of students to appropriate level of care. Maintain competency in evidence-based brief interventions (e.g., Brief Alcohol Screenings in College Students (BASICS), motivational interviewing, etc.). Consult and advise faculty, staff, and students concerning Razorback Recovery Community and SEAR programming. Attend scheduled meetings in both individual and group formats. Provide trainings to students, staff, faculty, graduate assistants, and CAPS masters and doctoral level interns. Provide supervision of graduate assistant(s) and/or interns as applicable. The position may include serving as the staff advisor to registered student organizations as applicable, as well as other duties as assigned.

The SEAR Collegiate Recovery Specialist will report to the SEAR Program Coordinator.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • GED, Highschool Diploma
  • Currently Certified as an Arkansas Core Peer Recovery Specialist according to the rules and regulations of the Arkansas Peer Recovery Program, or eligible to receive certification with 18 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s in Social Work, Psychology, or relevant field from an accredited institution of higher education
  • At least two years of peer recovery work-related experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
  • Working knowledge of a Collegiate Recovery Community on a college campus
  • Strong knowledge of substance use and recovery related topics
  • Ability to analyze problems, conduct research, implement solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experience with grant management
  • Strong work ethic with ability to adhere to appropriate ethical guidelines
  • Demonstrative and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated commitment to multiculturalism and diversity
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work as part of a highly cohesive and interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to work a flexible and varied schedule including some evening and weekend hours

Additional Information:
This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.
