Lake Superior Consulting is currently seeking a Scheduler III to join our growing team!


The Scheduler III is a mid- to senior-level scheduler who serves as the subject matter expert for the Critical Path Method and project scheduling discipline. The Scheduler III is responsible for project schedule plans and creation, review, and analysis using CPM (Critical Path Method). This includes maintaining CPM schedules, baselines, and updates. This scheduler must have the ability to work independently, present schedule updates and recommendations for corrective action to be taken, and effectively communicate opportunities and risks within the schedule to ensure milestones and deadlines are met. The Scheduler is involved in training and mentoring of peers within our organization.


The successful candidate plays a vital role in project scheduling responsibilities within our organization and for our clients; from project inception through successful delivery. Projects may involve estimating, contracting, schedule design, project management, risk management, earned value project/performance management, and field verification of schedule progress for projects involving pipelines, related facilities, and other construction activities.


Responsibilities:


  • Strong understanding of project management and Critical Path Methodology (CPM) principles and techniques, functions as a scheduling subject matter expert on CPM.
  • Creates, maintains, updates, and analyzes schedules using project management and CPM principles and techniques in areas such as; project scope tracking; subcontractor’s schedules; delays, including suggesting alternatives to regain slippage to the schedule; planned vs. actual percent complete reporting; progress and milestone reporting; resource utilization reporting; and CPM project schedules and baseline outlays.
  • Strong resource loading skills in P6.
  • The ability to create, maintain, and update Level 4 schedules as needed, often outside of P6.
  • Assist project team(s) with resource forecasting, resource leveling, and resource workload.
  • Forecasting and Estimate To Complete (EAC) and Estimate At Complete (EAC).
  • Develop and maintain a P6 Integrated Master Schedule.
  • Develop and maintain multiple P6 project schedules; including but not limited to:
    • Resource and cost loading schedules;
    • Apply appropriate default resource curve or create and apply custom curve,
    • Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Activity coding.
  • Creates, updates and maintains schedule risk models for ongoing risk assessments for assigned project(s), performs schedule "what-if" analysis and recommends corrective, mitigating or improvement actions to the project team.
  • Utilize schedule reporting and analysis features such as BI Publisher, histograms, bar charts, and curves.
  • Communicates schedule status, and facilitates project schedule meetings and activities with project leads, multiple levels of management, and subcontractors.

Requirements:

  • Experience with Primavera P6 Professional Project Management (PPM) or Enterprise Project Portfolio Management (EPPM)
  • Proven experience managing projects with Microsoft Projects.
  • Experience working in a planning and scheduling position for engineering, procurement, maintenance, and construction projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a schedule development effort.
  • Well organized and ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to dissect problems and quickly develop solutions.
  • Advanced capabilities with Microsoft Projects and Excel.
  • Proven computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, business administration, or closely related field and three years of schedule management experience that includes project lead responsibilities, cost, and schedule tracking and analysis; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project experience.
  • Ability to understand engineering, construction, and specifications, and drawings.
  • Earned Value Management (EVM) experience.
  • Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) certification.
  • PIM-SP, PMP, or another project managing certification or ability to pursue certification requirements.
  • EVMP, CAM or another Earned Value Management certification.
  • Experience with Primavera Unifier.
  • Experience with Tableau, and Power BI.
  • Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Risk analysis in EPC projects.
  • Familiar with DCMA 14-point assessment
