The Senior Accountant works closely with the Plant Controller, Plant Management and Professional Tools Finance to ensure periods are closed timely and accurately. This role is diverse and goes across different areas to include the cost accounting, P&L and balance sheet including trade working capital and fixed assets. Other ad-hoc reporting/analysis as needed. Process improvement mindset is helpful.
Under the direction of the Plant Controller, the Senior Accountant will assist in coordinating monthly accounting process with individual responsibilities and process oversight over various accounting functions to include support general ledger accounting to include journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting month-end closing activities. In addition, this role will be responsible for recommending and implementing process changes in support of increasing effectiveness and efficiency. Areas of focus include the balance sheet such as cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and intercompany transaction recording while performing all duties in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as Emerson Corporate Policies and Procedures.

AS A SENIOR ACCOUNTANT, YOU WILL:
- Coordinate, record and confirm Intercompany transactions.
- Prepare and support monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements for GAAP, tax and management reporting. Publish financial statements and template to be used to upload to Professional Tools HFM. Deliver reporting and analysis to support close.
- Coordinate and plan month-end close process to meet tight timelines.
- Post costs and prepare/enter cost entries.
- Prepare and post labor/payroll entries.
- Prepare and oversee account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis.
- Post cash receipts and help resolve A/R issues.
- Manage capital spend reporting and planning. Estimate depreciation expense based on changing information and capital requirements.
- Be a key member of our annual physical inventory process.
- Ability to participate in cross-functional teams in support of process improvement initiatives in an integrated ERP environment.
- Solid understanding of internal controls and ability to assist in reviewing and improving processes to enhance controls and segregation of duties.
- Perform other tasks as requested by Controller, managers and Professional Tools Finance.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- At least two years of experience in accounting or finance
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as within a group environment
- Strong computer and analytical skills
- Strong process and continuous improvement mindset
- Must be accounting focused with a good knowledge of GAAP
- ERP experience needed
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
- 4+ years of relevant working experience
- Cost accounting experience
This role has the flexibility of a remote work option up to three days a week and a core hour schedule.
You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00 AM
