Job Description
We are currently seeking a Senior Manager, Inventory and Cost Accounting to be located in Dallas, TX and report to the Director of Accounting .
The Senior Manager, Inventory and Cost Accounting is responsible for all inventory, cost accounting, supply chain accruals and production analysis functions. They are responsible for accuracy of financial records and partners with key stakeholders such as: Supply Chain, Procurement, Field Factory Controllers and others in Supply Chain. This role is also accountable for adherence to corporate policies and procedures, continuous improvement, and the development of the local finance team.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Responsible for month end and year end activities related to inventories and cost accounting
  • Analyze, consolidate, and report periodic variances and their causes
  • Review inventory reserve analysis on monthly and quarterly basis
  • Perform inventory subledger and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Review supply chain accruals and perform look-back analysis
  • Develop and implement cost control procedures; provide staff supervision over cost systems and methods
  • Analyze production costs and recommend changes where needed
  • Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles
  • Supervise the maintenance of inventory records of products, and direct other statistical and tabulating services
  • Partner with supply chain team in overseeing physical inventories and analyzing cycle counts to ensure proper adherence to internal control expectations
  • Review cost standards for materials and labor
  • Hire, train, develop, and supervise cost and inventory accounting staff Qualifications
Key qualifications include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required (CPA highly preferred)
  • 8+ years of leadership experience to include progressive experience in Accounting/Finance field
  • Accounting/Finance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a SOX compliant company
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and SoX requirements
  • Experience with large ERPs such as SAP or JDE or Oracle, Hyperion or Essbase, Excel, PowerPoint and Business Objects experience preferred
  • Consumer packaged goods experience preferred
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work both under supervision and independently
  • Ability to build relationships, embrace change and manage the business with an owner’s mindset
