Soelect Inc. develops advanced battery components to power the next generation of electric vehicles, power tools and mobile electronics. Soelect is partnering with General Motors and one of two GM’s invested portfolio companies in battery space in 2021. We are looking for a Senior Research Engineer-Battery Anode to join a world class lithium metal anode company. Will be expected to:
- Research and development of Li metal anode using morphology and SEI chemical composition with hands-on experiences on material analysis and electrochemistry techniques for battery research.
- Research physical and electrochemical properties of Li-metal surface
- Electrolyte and electrolyte additives development for improved lithium metal anode cell cycling at low and high temperatures.
- Develop a mechanistic understanding of Li-metal anode cell performance failure modes.
- Ability to work independently in experimental design to resolve technical issues.
- Be able to work in a team environment and provide expertise to the team effort.
- Have excellent verbal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Observe all safety procedures and wear required protective equipment as required
- Support electrochemical troubleshooting and resolve the technical failure mode.
- Confer with engineering staff and other personnel to identify and resolve problems with the design or implementation of electro-mechanical components or systems.
- Be comfortable working in a Lean-Agile working environment, a must.
- Maintain 5S: clean, safe, and organized working environments.
Education & Experience Requirements:
· Hold a Ph.D. in chemistry, electrochemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or a field related to electrochemistry.
· Skills in materials synthesis (e.g., ceramics or polymers, interface, or microstructure engineering).
· Deep understanding of electrochemistry to run various electrochemical experiments and analysis.
· Skills in material characterization such as using SEM/EDS, XRD, BET, FTIR, PSA and XPS.
· Strong background in fabrication of lithium or lithium-ion batteries in a variety of formats (coin, pouch).
· Excellent communications skills.
