• Candidates must be human service professionals with at least a bachelor's degree in a human services field.
• Candidates must obtain the Qualified Mental Health Professional credential within 120 days of hire.
• Must have one year of experience (may include time spent in fieldwork or internship) treating or working with people who have been diagnosed with mental illness.
• Must have a valid Michigan Chauffeur License and a good driving record.
• Must have the ability to engage adult mental health consumers, their families, and supporters.
• Must be an expert in helping consumers identify their service needs and preferences and helping them build on their individual strengths, resources, and supports to navigate the network of services available at the agency and in the community.
• Must have an orientation toward providing community outreach services.
• Additional requirements include a nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experiences of adults with mental illness, their families, and providers.
• Candidates must be able to work independently and demonstrate effective organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Must have the ability to appropriately handle crisis situations.
• Cannot accept candidates who are on student/work visas, and/or require sponsorship to work in the U.S. at this time. Individual programs may have additional requirements.
• Additional requirements include cultural competency, the ability to work effectively with a diverse population, the ability to engage and maintain therapeutic relationships with individuals and families in a variety of modes of treatment, the ability to develop collaborative relationships with other unit staff and providers, and a willingness to be flexible.
