Sous Chef
Job description
Revel, a refined American restaurant adjacent to the Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh Downtown is seeking an experienced and talented Executive Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As an Executive Sous Chef, you will play a key role in assisting the Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to plan and create innovative menus that meet the needs and preferences of our guests.
- Oversee the daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating, to ensure efficiency and consistency.
- Train, supervise, and motivate culinary staff, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent performance.
- Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as needed to ensure smooth operations and minimize waste.
- Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure that it meets the established standards.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and sanitary work environment.
- Assist in menu costing, budgeting, and controlling food costs to achieve financial targets.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop and implement new culinary concepts and techniques.
- Stay updated with industry trends and innovations, incorporating them into our menu offerings when appropriate.
- Handle any guest concerns or complaints regarding food quality and service promptly and professionally.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Executive Sous Chef in a high-volume, upscale restaurant or hotel.
- Strong culinary and creative skills, with a passion for food and a commitment to quality.
- In-depth knowledge of various cooking techniques, cuisines, and food safety standards.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to train and motivate a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and work under pressure.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred.
