General Summary:

The Tufts CardioVascular Center for Research and Innovation (CVCRI) conducts a wide range of clinical trials in all areas of cardiology including heart failure, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The Cardiogenic Shock Working Group (CSWG) is managed by Tufts Medical Center under the auspices of the CVCRI and coordinates sites across the country participating in a Cardiogenic Shock Registry which will lead to clinical trials.

Under the general supervision of the CVCRI Executive Director and CSWG Sr. Project Manager, the Statistical Associate will work collaboratively with our team to perform a variety of activities including assisting with database development, software programming, data management, statistical analysis, and reporting results for a variety of internal and external projects and constituents. This detail-oriented, motivated, and independent individual will work with datasets using SAS software and other technical tools to clean data, build datasets, run statistical analyses, and pull data reports for multiple projects. They will be responsible for translating evaluation questions into analytic plans, constructing analytic datasets by extracting raw data (including medical data) from electronic data warehouses and other sources as necessary, producing appropriate data summaries, and conducting valid data comparisons and statistical tests. This position is a key member of the CSWG data coordinating center team and works collaboratively with the CSWG Executive Board.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the experimental design of research studies
  • Actively assists with data management, database and registry creation, or data coordination
  • Participates in the creation of final datasets and analysis of data
  • Prepares final study reports, including tables, graphs, and other figures of analyses
  • Assists with the preparation of manuscripts, grants, and presentations

JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


General Skills

  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytic and data management skills, especially with clinical and biostatistical analyses
  • Practical problem-solving abilities and ability to move forward in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize work, operate under tight deadlines, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail. Proficiency with software packages, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Resilient, collaborative, flexible, innovative.

Technical Skills

  • Strong programming skills in SAS and willingness to learn other programming languages as necessary (Knowledge of R and Python are preferred but not required).
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical testing and multivariate modeling required (e.g., logistic and linear regression, longitudinal models) used in Biostatistics/Epidemiology
  • Experience analyzing data from electronic medical records databases (e.g. EPIC) is preferred.
  • Experience with electronic database software (i.e RedCap, Medrio, Medidata) preferred
  • Experience with compiling longitudinal datasets for analysis is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office also required.

EDUCATION:

Master's Degree in Biostatistics required.

EXPERIENCE:

Dependent on Degrees held; 0-3 years experience
