The Florida Eye Clinic has grown to an impressive 11 practice clinic of ophthalmologists and optometrists with a state-of-the-art Ambulatory Surgical Center at our home practice in Altamonte Springs.

We are dedicated to providing a positive experience for our patients, so The Florida Eye Clinic is seeking a professional, positive, and team-oriented individual to join our family as a Surgery Technician.

WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE:

The Surgery Technician prepares instruments and supplies to perform the procedure according to the physician’s documented preferred routine for that procedure. Prepares the operating field for the procedure. Performs routine and delegated duties.

*Please note this position is for Fridays only. Schedule time at 6:30am-1pm*

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have prior experience in ophthalmology office setting and in working in an ambulatory surgical setting.
  • Have computer experience.
  • Have attended surgical tech school

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Supports the philosophy, goals and objectives of the Organization.

  • Contributes to the progress and development of the Organization’s adopted Quality Management Program.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers.
  • Maintains professional competence by participating in continuing education and other learning experiences.
  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities.
  • Performs specified functions to meet the requirements of each procedure approved for the Facility.
  • Performs operating room technician functions following principles of aseptic technique and prescribed operating/procedure room procedures.
  • Correctly utilizes, cares for, cleans and sterilizes instruments, supplies and equipment, as directed.
  • Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and the physician.
  • Displays the ability to comprehend and interpret verbal orders and direction.
  • Documents patient care records and other forms accurately following policies and procedures.
  • Accurately advises others responsible for care of the patient about the patient’s status.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Notifies the physician and ASC personnel of any special patient needs or situations.
  • Routes medical records to assure completeness of pre-operative procedures.
  • Updates and keeps current all information for insurance provider manuals.
  • Provides weekly and monthly total of all surgical and laser patient files reviewed.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Aptitudes: Audio and verbal ability, ability to organize.

Techniques and Procedures: Requires 100% interaction with people, manual dexterity to an extent of 80%, lifting and reaching limited to 40%, and 80% sitting.

Operating room technician training required. Operating room experience required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to operate computer

Ability to operate multi line telephone

Ability to sit for extended periods of time

Ability to lift and carry 2-4 lbs. of paperwork

Ability to gather and deliver information from various locations within the clinic setting

Require high level visual and auditory acuity for timely response and patient care assessment activities. Occasional overhead and low reaching.

Ability to move quickly in response to physician and patient needs, to stand for long periods and to exert force of up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 20 lbs. frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly. All patient care activities may require the ability to exert force of up to 30 lbs. constantly, up to 40 lbs. occasionally and up to 100 lbs. rarely.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE:

Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens and frequent exposure to chemical hazards.

Pay: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour
