The role you’ll contribute:

OurLegacy is designated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as the only organ procurement organization (OPO) in east central Florida and is accredited by the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) as a tissue recovery agency. OurLegacy's scope of operations extends to each of the following hospitals within the AdventHealth's Hospital system: Altamonte, Apopka, Celebration, Daytona Beach, Deland, East Orlando, Fish Memorial, Kissimmee, New Smyrna Beach, Orlando, Palm Coast, Waterman and Winter Park. Additionally, CMS has designated OurLegacy to provide organ and tissue donation services to all non-AdventHealth acute care and critical access hospitals and free-standing emergency rooms in the following counties: Brevard, Flagler, Indian River, Lake, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Sumter, and Volusia.The surgical services coordinator fulfills all aspects of OurLegacy's deceased donor organ recovery, preservation and transportation program for all medically suitable organ donation cases arising in each of the above-named hospitals. The surgical services coordinator is responsible to understand and comply with OurLegacy organ recovery policies and protocols for organ, lymph node, spleen, vessel, blood specimen labeling, packaging and transportation. The surgical services coordinator must have mastery of the principles and practices of organ preservation for the purpose of transplantation. To ensure usability of all donated organs, the surgical services coordinator must possess exceptional skill as first assistant to the transplant surgeon during the surgical removal of deceased donor hearts, lungs, livers, kidneys, pancreata, lymph nodes, vessels and spleen. The surgical services coordinator independently, and without direct supervision, attaches deceased donor kidneys to pulsatile preservation biomedical equipment for the purpose of transplant suitability evaluation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

• Certified Surgical Technologist
• Driver's License

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• 2+ years operating room experience.

• And Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program Or LPN Or RN.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two-year OPO or transplant experience.

• One year kidney perfusion experience.

• Ability to First Assist

• Heart, lung, liver, kidney perfusion

• Understanding of OPTN standards for organ packaging and labeling

• Strong demonstrated operating room knowledge and skill.

• Good oral, written and interpersonal skills, strong analytical and organizational skills.

• Mastery of sterile and aseptic techniques in the operating room.

• Ability to multitask with attention to detail.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

• Oversees the recovery procedure, including OR donor management and personnel workflow, to ensure optimal organ viability and respect for the donor and their gifts. • First assists the surgical recovery of organs as required. Assists with the preparation and administration of preservation solution and packaging and labeling of organs in compliance with Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network

(OPTN) policies.• Is on call and reachable for an extended period of time. (24 hours per call day)• Manages and monitors organs for transplant on mechanical preservation devices.• Provides overall coordination for the multidisciplinary team involved in recovering heart, lungs, liver outside OurLegacy's donation service area (DSA).• Handles intake calls for potential organ fly outs.• Actively participates in and facilitates communication, education, and collaboration among operating room staff, recovering teams and hospital team members to ensure continuity of donor care. • Demonstrates through behavior AdventHealth's Core Values: Inclusiveness, Quality and Service Excellence, Community Well-Being, High Ethical Standards and Stewardship. • Assist in orienting/on-boarding new employees, continuing education and in-service educational programs at hospitals. • Oversee supply and inventory to meet daily needs of organ donation
