Job description

THE COMPANY

Housesmith Home Concierge aspires to make it easier for families of the South Shore of Massachusetts to enjoy their homes.

Caring for a home takes time and expertise. It’s common for a homeowner to manage a dozen or more vendors for basic upkeep. And while each of these vendors might be great at their particular trade, none of them has the time or profit motive to give the homeowner a complete picture of the status of their home. More importantly, it’s unlikely that the homeowner has a real relationship with more than a couple of those contractors—if any of them at all. There’s an opportunity to make it easier for families to enjoy their homes by allowing them to build a relationship with one company that does everything for them.

ABOUT THE TEAM LEADER ROLE

A lot of what makes caring for a home so challenging is a dearth of great leadership among residential services providers. And while most of the customers who would sign up for a concierge maintenance service want beautiful technology that makes their lives easier, when it comes to caring for their homes they also want a personal relationship with someone who knows them and their home, and who is steeped in the local community. As a result, we believe our business will only succeed if we hire great leaders who can build decades-long relationships with their teams, their customers, and their vendors.

As a Team Leader, at the outset your job will be to personally deliver excellent craftsmanship with hospitality to all of our clients. Over time, as the business grows, you will supervise a crew of 3-5 laborers to deliver the same hospitality-based craftsmanship at a larger scale. At the outset and as the business grow, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that your and your crew remain billable for at least 90% of your hours worked. Specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Standing in for the President and Vice President in his/her absence, or when the President is otherwise occupied
  • Proactively anticipate our members’ needs and deliver service experiences that make it easier for them and their families to enjoy their homes
  • Direct supervision of a labor crew of 3-5 team members
  • Execute a wide variety of interior/exterior maintenance and repair tasks (drywall, carpentry, electrical, pressure washing, etc.)
  • Proactively diagnose and solve residential construction and maintenance problems
  • Provide the best residential services experience imaginable (honest, kind, clear, and constant communication; on- time service; do the work we say we’re going to do)
  • Operational excellence--high quality, safe repair and maintenance work
  • Ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of your team’s vehicle(s) and equipment
  • Training and holding your crew accountable for operating according to the company’s values and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Identifying high-performers and cultivating them for more senior field crew roles within the company
  • Directly interacting with members (customers)
  • Proactively acquiring new members, and maintaining relationships with existing members—you’ll be a critical part of building the sort of relationship with our members such that “selling” to them just means that they never want to do work with anyone else

WHY DO THIS

  • You will work with, not for, a team that prioritizes employee experience and personal/professional growth
  • You will grow into positions of greater responsibility, leadership, and pay, with the opportunity to grow into the Vice President role
  • Outstanding pay and benefits, a clear pathway to promotion with performance, and profit sharing if you stand out and grow as a leader
  • Culture that values autonomous leaders who are excited to take initiative and ownership. You’ll get lots of training, but we expect you to push back when things don’t make sense, and to proactively anticipate and solve problems.
  • Ability to grow something in a community you love, but with the support and capital of a national team.
