Why does the job exist?

This position is responsible for collaboratively developing and implementing training for CYFD employees in the development of supervision and leadership skills.

This employee will need to:

  • Use respectful and professional communication, clarify for understanding, and take direction;
  • Demonstrate and model the skills trained to employees;
  • Show a willingness to learn from others, build skills and receive and use feedback for growth.
  • Apply adult learning theory when developing or implementing training.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with supervisor to create, implement, and evaluate curriculum;
  • Have experience in supervising employees.

Who are the customers?

All Children, Youth and Families Department employees and some community partners.

Ideal Candidate

  • Demonstrates ability to facilitate job skills simulation;

  • Working knowledge and experience in child welfare and juvenile justice systems;

  • Five (5) years experience in training and developing curriculum applying adult learning and facilitation of discovery learning;

  • Three (3) years experience supervising employees;

  • Experience with learning management systems, data analysis of evaluations, and e-learning design and development.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in any field and two (2) years of experience in training, staff development, designing courses, and/or producing instructional aids/materials. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

Must possess a current and valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some travel may be required. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
