About the Position:
The Senior Transit Planner performs work on all aspects of Transit Planning and Transit Operations related to the City of Scottsdale Transit System.

PLEASE NOTE: Years of experience are based on a work schedule of 2,080 hours per year for full-time positions and 1,040 hours per year for part-time positions, and while work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis, depending upon the job classification, education may not be substituted for work experience.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited educational institution.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a combination of Transportation Planning, Transit Planning or Transit Operations.
  • An equivalent combination of education and job-related experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis. A qualifying Master's Degree can substitute for up to two years of experience.
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Planning, Engineering or closely related field.

Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements:

  • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.

Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/service assignment.




ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
  • Works on all aspects of transit planning and transit operations in conjunction with contiguous jurisdictions.
  • Coordinates with Valley Metro, City of Phoenix and neighboring jurisdictions in transit planning and transit operations.
  • Uses mathematical calculations, analyzes transit data and draws logical conclusions.
  • Plays a key role in Federal Transit Administration compliance, Title VI and National Transit Data Reporting.
  • Presents transit operations, technologies, systems, and network enhancements and opportunities to the Transportation Commission.

  • Work is performed in a City office and/or remote working environment.

  • Work evenings as required to attend City Council, and/or Board and Committee meetings.
