Posting Summary
Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Technician II for New Jersey State Prison located in Trenton, NJ
The Technician II participates as a member of the clinical and administrative medical team at the Prison. Provides indirect patient care to inmates under the direction of a Physician, Physician Assistant or a Registered Nurse.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Assists with the cleaning, sterilization and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit.
- Maintains or assists in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit by ordering in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Forwards the daily orders to the pharmacy provider, including verification of inmate housing assignments for reorders.
- Maintains record keeping systems for refills of medication, recalls, and returns of pharmaceuticals.
- Receives and logs all pharmaceuticals received from pharmacy provider and local provider.

Equipment Utilized
Physical Demands and Work Environment
As a first responder must have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes. Physically able to assist in lifting and rotating patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds).

Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements. Employees will be subject to and must comply with all security regulations and procedures of NJ Department of Corrections

Immunization Requirements
Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Additional infection control and safety policies may apply.
