Water & Energy Conservation Coordinator
Job description
Peraton is seeking a Water & Energy Conservation Coordinator to join our team in Fort Irwin, California to support our Deep Space Network (DSN) program with JPL and NASA.
The Deep Space Network is NASA’s international array of giant radio antennas that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions, plus a few that orbit Earth. The DSN also provides radar and radio astronomy observations that improve our understanding of the solar system and the larger universe. The antennas of the Deep Space Network are the indispensable link to explorers venturing beyond the moon. They provide the crucial connection for commanding our spacecraft and receiving their never before seen images and scientific information on Earth, propelling our understanding of the universe, our solar system and ultimately, our place within it.
Responsibilities:
- Provide liaison duties in regards to energy & water conservation efforts between GDSCC, DSN Engineering, JPL, NMO, DoD and other agencies as required.
- Analyze Federal & NASA energy conservation goals, develop compliance plans and seek funding mechanisms such as ESPC & UESC.
- Applies a working knowledge of power and water engineering theories, principles, and concepts to a level of proficiency to provide Project Management of Energy Conservation Measures (ECM).
- Provides coordination with other groups to accomplish tasks outside normal areas of responsibility. Must apply influence skills to accomplish goals as there are no direct reports.
- Conducts meetings, technical presentations, and prepares and submits special reports: PMR inputs, Operations Coordination inputs, and Weekly Activity Report inputs.
- Develops metrics to track subsystem performance, costs, schedule, and other necessary data.
- Participate as the team lead in the identification, review, and analysis of alternative power technologies (fuel cell, solar photovoltaic, wind, etc..).
- Participate as the lead for the Energy Conservation Management team
- Participate in the engineering economic analysis of proposed ECM improvements.
- Participate in master planning efforts to identify, review, and analyze ECM to meet new requirements and/or environmental regulations.
- Support the Engineering Change Management Board in the review of ECM design development, evaluation, and costing of engineering change requests and change orders.
- Use Advanced Windows-based PC and Microsoft Office products
- Use Energy Meters and related software.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in a technical or engineering field with at least 3 years of experience or a Masters’ with at least 1 year of experience- The position requires travel to GDSCC (i.e., Weekly, Monthly, or as frequently as required) to ensure effective oversight and implementation of the energy program.
- Must be able to lift/push/pull 20 lbs.
- Fundamental knowledge of energy/power systems and usage is essential.
- Fundamental knowledge of statistical principals for performance analysis and reporting.
- Strong background in Facility, Operational & Maintenance environments.
- Knowledge of project management principles.
Desired Qualifications:
Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification is desired.- Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Self-motivated and demonstrate the ability to work as a team member
- Ability to work independently, comprehend and follow written and oral instructions and procedures without direct supervision.
