PeaceHealth is seeking a Workers Compensation and Injury Coordinator for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $28.02 – $42.03. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

Position location:This can be a hybrid, remote or in-person position; periodic in-person reporting will be needed at various PeaceHealth locations.


JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for coordination of the established Return-to-Work and injury reduction program through monitoring and creation of modified work assignments for injured caregivers. Coordinates information, communications, forms, processes and actions between the medical provider, employer, claims adjustor, injured caregiver and leave program in compliance with state law and policies. Analyzes data, creates reports and presents claim and caregiver injury data to caregivers and leaders within their network (tier huddles, meetings, etc.). Responsible for identifying and developing temporary assignments, either modified or alternative duties, for return-to-work; and ensures provider and employee participation through ongoing education, communication and application of established protocols. Monitors program for compliance with policy, laws and program goals and make recommendations for changes based on review of the program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serves as internal workers’ compensation and injury subject matter expert (SME), supporting the interpretation and consistent application of PeaceHealth policies and workers’ compensation benefits
  • Coordinates with internal parties and third-party vendors to resolve escalated and complex workers’ compensation issues and questions.
  • Collaborates with third pary vendors to ensure that agreed upon service levels are met and any caregiver issues are promptly addressed. Reviews benefit policies for accuracy and monitors service level agreements to ensure compliance with negotiated terms and conditions.
  • Coordinates the electronic injury reporting system within their network. Works with caregiver and third party administrator to ensure that benefits are appropriately established.
  • Tracks and researches trends in the electronic injury reporting system. Communicates incidents with internal parties for investigation and follow up. Provides instruction and training to managers and caregivers on use of the injury reporting system in compliance with OSHA.
  • Coordinates return-to-work by collaborating with department managers, HR business partners, injured caregivers, adjusters, attorneys/legal counsel, investigators, vocational providers, LOA Coordinators and other team members. Engages in the interactive process with HR and other relevant parties.
  • Clarifies and documents essential functions of the job, identifies barriers, interfaces with injured caregivers, supervisors, third-party administrators and providers to propose solutions to return caregiver to work.
  • Provides quality control of claim system and maintains appropriate logs and files for compliance with OSHA recordkeeping and incident investigation requirements. .
  • Identifies, coordinates and completes documents to submit to regulatory agency, insurance carrier(s), and/or third-party administrator.
  • Maintains confidential caregiver claim records, summaries and written reports. Serves as a liaison for the TPA/Insurer to answer questions and to advocate and provide information to caregivers and supervisors/managers related to claim processing,.
  • Analyzes data and develops and/or delivers presentations, trainings and training materials to leaders, caregivers, members of Safety, Workplace Violence Prevention and Safe Patient Handling Committees. Identifies and works to implement program recommendations, enhancements, strategies and report injury tactics to reduce frequency of on-the-job injuries, reduce the severity/costs of injuries and enhance accident prevention program. Communicates issues to appropriate parties for resolution.
  • Analyzes injury/incident data trends and meets with departments to discuss recommendations for process improvement. Develops and implements strategies to reduce caregiver injuries.
  • Provides instructions and training to caregivers and supervisors on policies and laws governing workers’ compensation , employer return-to-work program, lost time/leave reporting and ADA.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge obtained through a combination of education, training and experience.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Minimum of three years’ experience with return-to-work programs, health care compliance, patient safety, regulatory and/or workers’ compensation.

OTHER SKILLS:

  • Strong communications skills - written, presentation and verbal.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence.
  • Strong team player and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong documentation on standardized deliverables and processes.
  • Experience with Lawson, Kronos and SharePoint is preferred.
  • Advance skills in MS Office applications preferred.
  • Working knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies regarding Safety, Workers’ Compensation, ADA accommodations, and interrelated areas, such as Family Medical Leave.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills.
