Position: Specialized Skills Instructor - Upward
Location: Woburn, MA; Beverly, MA
Salary: $19 per hour

Hours: Full time, Monday-Friday 8am-4pm

Summary: Mentor individuals with higher abilities on the autism spectrum to enhance their independence by helping them network socially, develop friendships, and create new relationships through our Upward Program.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Teach and support a group of young people who have autism without a developmental disability
• Use a consistent and patient teaching approach
• Creatively adapt your own interests, such as art, music, and health & fitness, to teach others new things

• Provide personal assistance to individuals consistent with their needs
• Be adaptable to adapt and make adjustments to techniques based on functional abilities and limitations
• Including a complete familiarity with the profiles and histories of supported individuals supported

• Participate in the development and direct implementation of the Individual Support Plan
• Shape annual assessments and goals

• Attend team meetings
• Assess individual's training needs
• Cultivate descriptive teaching programs
• Monitoring effectiveness through data collection

• Develop and implement community-based activities

Qualifications:

• High School diploma is required
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field is preferred

• At least one year of experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities is preferred
• A passion and dedication to supporting our people
• A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record
• Reliable transportation
• Must pass a CORI background check, fingerprinting, and reference check
