ABA Therapist (7-Week Summer Program)

Verbal Beginnings is hiring temporary ABA Therapists for our Social Beginnings Summer Program! ABA Therapists provide Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to clients at their assigned Social Beginnings’ summer location in a classroom based setting. Each ABA Therapist is responsible for providing clinical services to their assigned clients and is supervised administratively by the Director of Social Beginnings and clinically by a Clinical Supervisor.

Location & Schedule:

This is a temporary full-time position and hours of work and days are scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 4:00 pm. ABA Therapists must also be available 1 week prior to the program start date for training.

  • Location: Millersville, MD
  • Employment Dates: June 26, 2023 - August 18, 2023 (first week training, and program runs 7/5 - 8/18). Must be available for the entire duration of the program.
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm

Compensation:

  • $20.00 - $23.00 per hour based on experience and certifications

  • Ensure the client is in a safe and positive environment at all times
  • Accurately document billed services, including keeping records of session dates and times, description of services provided, and additional documentation as assigned
  • Provide designated professional and quality group based ABA services at all times as directed by the Clinical Supervisor
  • Attend assigned training and supervision meetings with Clinical Supervisor(s) and Director of Social Beginnings.
  • Comply with Company and BACB guidelines at all times

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Regularly required to speak clearly and hear well.
  • Frequently required to reach, grasp, walk briskly, sit on the floor, kneel, crouch, ascend stairs, descend stairs, and quickly move from a standing position to sitting on a chair, floor, or other surface, and to quickly move from a sitting to a standing position.
  • Required to travel by car to, and move around in, classroom based settings.
  • The employee will, at times, be required to exert moderate work (force). The employee may be required to make physical contact with clients.

The safety of clients, staff, and others operating in the working environment are among Verbal Beginnings’ most important priorities. This description is not intended to be all-inclusive and the individual will also perform other reasonably related duties as requested by the supervisor(s).

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in Psychology or a related field such as Education or Speech Therapy preferred.
  • 6+ months experience working with children, or equivalent college credits completed in a related degree program.
  • BLS or equivalent CPR certification including pediatric (must have in person component - cannot be fully remote CPR) or a commitment to complete and show proof prior to one’s start date.
  • Previous experience with or knowledge of individuals with ASD and ABA therapy is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude and passion to help children with developmental disabilities.
  • Reliable transportation
