Biller/Accounts Receivable Clerk/Clerical Assistant

(PORT JEFFERSON, NY LOCATION)

Employment type: Full-time /Entry Level Position

Fast-paced and fast growing NYS Licensed Home Healthcare Agency is looking for a Accounts Receivable Clerk/Clerical Assistant as an entry level position. The candidate must have sharp skills, an outgoing personality, energetic, self- motivated and desire to learn.

Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable Clerk/Clerical Assistant

Job Summary:

The Accounts Receivable/Payable Clerk will assist in ensuring that the company receives payment for goods and services offered to clients. You MUST have Quickbooks experience to be considered for this position.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepares, posts cash, verifies, and records customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable.
  • Creates invoices according to company practices; submits invoices to customers.
  • Maintains and updates customer files, including name or address changes, mergers, or mailing attentions.
  • Drafts correspondence for standard past-due accounts and collections, identifies delinquent accounts by reviewing files, and contacts delinquent account holders to request payment.
  • Creates reports regarding the current status of customer accounts as requested.
  • Researches customer discrepancies and past-due amounts with the assistance of the Collections Manager and other staff.
  • Collaborates with the Collections Manager to reconcile accounts receivable on a periodic (at least bimonthly) basis.
  • Assists in generating monthly billing statements based on the general ledger.
  • Assists Accounting Manager in reconciling revenue accounts each month.
  • Copies, files, and retrieves materials for accounts receivable as needed.
  • Relays changes of information to appropriate employees.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Quickbooks a MUST and related software as well as other accounting software programs.
  • Ability to operate related office equipment, such as computers, 10-key calculator, and copier.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with customers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.
  • At least two years of related experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Must Have:

· Some knowledge/experience is helpful in Home Healthcare, but will train right candidate

· Excellent phone skills/communication skills

· Detail oriented

· Proficient computer skills (Quickbooks, Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, Word, Act, Email & Google)

· Ability to multitask

· Desire to continue to learn and grow with our company

· Reliable and punctual

· Compliance with HIPAA

· Adherence to Agency and Department of Health (DOH) policy & procedures

· Professionalism

Additional Responsibilities:

Helps with all aspects in accounting department

· Review, sort, scan and file patient/RN charts

· Maintains accurate documentation

· Enters staff and client information into database

· Performs general office duties including but not limited to photocopying, filing, shredding, faxing, mailing

· Assists other employees where needed

· Is responsible and cooperative with patients/families, supervisors, fellow employees

· Maintains friendly working atmosphere

· Maintains appropriate attitude and appearance

· Utilizes established channels of communication

· Recognizes limitations and seeks assistance appropriately

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
