A day in the life of a Catastrophe Field Property Adjuster:

  • Spend part of your day traveling to loss sites across the country that have been damaged by weather or other unexpected events
  • Conduct a detailed inspection of the property and write an estimate to capture the extent of the damages
  • When you are not in the field, use advanced video technology to collaborate with onsite vendors to identify damages and write a damage estimate from a virtual setting
  • Review the policy and decide how coverage applies and provide the customer with a detailed explanation of both the estimate and the policy
  • Communicate empathetically with customers and help them through their claim process in a fast, fair and easy manner
  • Negotiate claim settlements with customers in accordance with business unit standard methodologies
  • Flexibility to work in a variety of environments - independently, within a team, face-to-face, and virtually
  • In addition, you must have the ability to handle claims, collaborate with vendors, and communicate with customers in a live and/or professional virtual setting from your home
  • In our virtual environment, adjusters are required to participate and be on camera during online meetings and trainings

When will I work?

  • You will be working 10 days on with 4 days off; As a result, you must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours as necessary
  • This is a demanding field position that will require you to travel across the country as much as 70% of your working time

You’re a great match for this role if you:

  • Have a High School Diploma/GED or higher (Bachelor’s Degree preferred)
  • Have previous experience in construction, restoration, or real estate appraisals- it's a plus
  • Have prior experience using estimating software like Xactimate- it's a plus
  • Value providing an effortless customer service experience
  • Enjoy the ability to work independently starting your day from home, and traveling to various locations to restore peoples’ lives through outstanding customer service
  • View problems and setbacks as opportunities for improvement and look forward to coming up with creative solutions
  • Are organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Are known for clear and professional communication – both written and verbal
  • Are willing and able to carry a 50-pound ladder and access up to a 6/12 pitch on either a one to two-story roof multiple times a day
  • Have a valid driver's license
  • Are bilingual and/or having prior military experience- it’s a plus
  • This position is not available for Alaska, California, Hawaii and Washington residents'

Sign-on Bonus:

  • You may be eligible for a $1000 Licensing Sign on Bonus if you have the applicable active licenses needed for this role. This could include Home Resident Property & Casualty License, Designated Home State (DHS) Florida or Texas License, and/or applicable Appraiser License.

Candidates who have previously worked for and are seeking to be rehired at Allstate and its family of companies are not eligible for this sign-on bonus.”

Compensation offered for this role is $55,000 - $75,500 per year and is based on experience and qualifications.


The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
