The Manager for Avionics Engineering is a leader of an engineering organization that employs multi-disciplined engineering resources, tools, and processes to support the specification, design, implementation, verification, validation and delivery of spacecraft related avionics products and systems. Hybrid work is acceptable, but full time remote work will not be an option.

The Manager of Avionics Engineering reports to and works alongside the Director of Electrical/RF Engineering and is a key member of the Engineering leadership team, working side-by-side with Operations, and Program and Business Area Managers.

For this position, you must have a proven track record in leading engineering organizations and have a breadth of experience that includes technical leadership and project management, as well as broad technical exposure to the design, production and testing of complex avionics solutions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible and accountable for technical, schedule and cost performance in the delivery of all non-flight and flight avionics solutions to programs. Provide Avionics oversight by engaging in
    • Proposal Development (including review and approval of Technical, Cost, Schedule baselines)
    • Engineering Review Board and CCBs
    • Technical peer and readiness reviews
    • Lessons Learned and, Corrective and Preventative Actions
    • Continuous Improvement
    • IRAD Management
  • Assist the Director by providing direction and leadership to the Electrical Engineering directorate and electrical engineering management team with ultimate responsibility for:
    • Employee Allocation, Utilization Planning, and Assignments
    • Recruiting
    • Training
    • Career Development and Professional Growth
    • Personnel Communications
    • Software Tools, Computers
    • Facilities and Equipment Infrastructure Support

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with 10 years of digital/analog electronics design and FPGA development experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience as a technical leader or manager of a significant electrical engineering effort
  • Ability to perform requirements flow down from system level to component and circuit card-level level specifications
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate complex avionics designs. You must have experience and understanding of basic analyses such as worst case and parts stress
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and troubleshoot complex electrical systems and process related issues. Ability to manage major failure review boards to successful completion in a timely fashion
  • Ability to oversee projects effectively and to take personal responsibility for their completion on schedule and within budget
  • Ability to gather data from multiple sources and summarize key issues at the executive level

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding how radiation affects piece part and circuit-level performance
  • Top Secret Clearance is preferred

Salary Range: $152,100 USD - $228,100 USD
Salary Range 2: $176,100 USD - $264,100 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
