The SJCC is looking for a responsible and friendly person to clean and maintain the summer campgrounds. Under the guidance of the Camp and Maintenance Director, this individual will assure the smooth and efficient operation of the SJCC Summer Camp so as to provide campers and staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean place to attend camp. This is a seasonal position starting from the beginning of camp to the end. The exact dates are listed under the Camp tab on our website.

Cleaning and Sanitizing is a very important part of this position, along with the ability to work in a flexible environment. This person must have the ability to take direction, complete tasks without extended guidance, be a self-starter, and have a can-do attitude.

Job Duties

• Survey entire campgrounds each morning for debris, hazards, litter, or other inappropriate items. Pick up these items and dispose of them in the appropriate trash cans.
• Keep all areas clean and hazard-free.
• Wipe and clean off all eating areas after lunch.
• Check Family Park locker room after campers and place left behind items in lost and found.
• Check the nursery school bathroom every hour, empty trash, wipe toilets, and replace soap and towels when necessary.
• Keep sand evenly spread on the playground, especially around the tire swing and firemans poles.
• Make sure all hallways and doors are kept free of debris.
• Wear walkie talkie so staff can contact you in case of emergency or other maintenance needs.
• Other duties as assigned by Camp or Maintenance director.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age by June 1
• Must have a valid drivers license and clean driving record
• Must be able to lift approximately 50 pounds; good physical condition
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis, enjoy cleanliness and order
• Must be able to stand and walk for up to eight hours/day
• Ability to work with people have a pleasant and positive attitude with willingness to learn
• Be of good moral character ( honest and trustworthy)
• Ability to maintain good personal hygiene and well-groomed appearance
