C8 is a quality focused cannabis cultivation company that utilizes unique cultivation methodologies uncommon in today’s cannabis industry. Some of these methodologies include recirculating deep-water culture (RDWC), hermetically sealed and fully controlled environment 'CEA' greenhouses, tissue culture, light movement systems, and bare root cloning. The CFM is not expected to be an expert in all of these areas upon arrival but will be expected to come up to speed quickly under the guidance of The Director of Cultivation, Tony Locken. The ideal candidate must be well versed in management techniques focused on accountability, an expectation of performance, and recognition of those that exceed expectations. Creating and maintaining a culture of excellence should come as second nature and be demonstrable upon your arrival.

PLEASE NOTE: Moffat, CO is a remote location in the San Luis Valley. You must enjoy solitude and mountain living. Nearest towns with commerce and activities include Crestone, Salida, and Alamosa. Denver and Pueblo are several hours drive. Please do not apply if you are not prepared AND familiar with mountain living. Relocation costs are not provided.

Position Summary:

The Cultivation Facility Manager ‘CFM’ is responsible for the overall operations of the facility, systems, and staff. The facility is comprised of several 4,000 sf hermetically sealed, controlled environment greenhouses. They must be versed in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, security systems, building management, and maintenance. They will be responsible for following all applicable laws for facility maintenance and ensuring compliance with the state regulated cannabis program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that company quality measures are met and constantly strive to find ways to exceed those standards.
  • Direct operational issues and budget decisions; participate in developing and implementing rules, regulations, department policies, and procedures
  • Continuous improvement in efficiencies, processes, and procedures
  • Manage and coordinate Post Harvest, Cure, Processing and Packaging operations at the facility including: daily activities, supply requests, equipment requirements, training/ development, schedules, personnel and quality assurance.
  • Inventory oversight, management, and organization.
  • Ability to research, evaluate and adapt to new methods, compliance updates, and techniques for operational improvement.
  • Create, improve, implement, and ensure quality standards and procedures for processing and packaging operations
  • Implement procedures and systems to increase efficiency, decrease costs, and effectively meet production goals and quality standards
  • Provide coaching and direction concerning operational and personnel issues in the processing department
  • Monitor employee progress; coach, train and develop employees in the accomplishment of their duties and goals through personal and professional growth
  • Create and manage approved budgets in relation to processing and automation at the facility
  • Support regulatory compliance activities including authoring and review of study reports, and SOPs
  • Troubleshoot equipment within the facility, including but not limited to R/O skid in the irrigation room
  • Manage all onsite contractors and vendors including but not limited to cleaning companies and janitorial services, lawn and snow services, mechanical contractors, GC’s, etc.
  • Prepare the facility for seasonal changes including but not limited to winterization, furnace operations, air filter replacement, and grounds keeping such as snow removal.
  • Establish, maintain, implement, and document regular maintenance schedules for all building equipment including HVAC equipment, cultivation equipment, processing equipment, and any other equipment necessary to maintain efficient operations. This includes proactive, reactive and preventative maintenance approaches
  • Coordinate maintenance and cleaning activities with other departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely manner and in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Establish operational standards and procedures for all facility related functions and inspect work performed by contractors and vendors to certify that it meets specifications and standards
  • Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of the facility to determine type of work and maintenance required, and schedule repairs and contractors accordingly
  • Manage projects, from scope of development & bidding through implementation, of all facility related projects and assist with other projects as requested
  • Responsible for maintaining safety standards and ensuring that all safety rules are followed in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Be on call for emergency situations at the facility, which occasionally take place outside business hours and require immediate attention and or maintenance.
  • Oversee all building renovations, expansions, or improvements and coordinate and manage all contractors
  • Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOP), as well as delegating responsibilities and training personnel in the execution of assigned work in accordance with established SOP.
  • Ensure proper performance and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems within the building.
  • Ensure proper performance, maintenance, and operation of all cultivation and processing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot minor maintenance issues involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair/replacement.
  • Be a hands-on leader while assisting in the completion of the IPM program as well as the troubleshooting, repair and general maintenance work on the facilities, equipment and grounds.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain record of scheduled maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure all custodial functions associated with cleaning and maintaining the building both inside and outside.

Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position that requires but is not limited to, 40 hours per week. Operational hours are dependent on the client and facility operations. This position requires weekend and holiday work.

Physical Demands:

· Ability to work a minimum of 8 hours a day and rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays

· Ability to lift, push and pull 50 pounds

· Ability to sit, squat, bend, and kneel repetitively throughout an 8 or 10-hour day

· Ability to stand and walk for 8 hours

· Ability to visually identify plant health issues, safety hazards, and signage

· Ability to use a ladder up to 12 feet high

· Environmental Demands

· Exposure to allergens, and non-carcinogenic pesticides, dust, odors, extreme heat, artificial light, sun exposure, vibrations, elevated CO2 levels, and water.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Attention to detail and clear communication skills
  • Must be 21 or older.
  • MED Badged and Colorado resident
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a cultivation manager or facility project manager role.
  • HVAC experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Facility Management, Engineering, Agriculture or Business Administration.
  • Experience must include hands-on responsibility for the full scope of human resources activities, both operations and staff resource planning.
  • High level observation skills.
  • Excellent and confident communicator.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively.
  • Self-starter and self-motivator.
  • Persistent in driving high standards and professionalism.
  • Willing to work on a “hands on” basis and contribute positively in a growing company environment.
  • Strong software skills – METRC, MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Inventory Tracking.
  • Must be able to pass all background check and licensing requirements as set forth by the MED
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without an accommodation
