At the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP), our business is changing lives. We partner with schools and the community to ensure students from low-income neighborhoods graduate from high school, are ready for college and a career so they can lead fulfilling lives fueled by their passions, talents, and a love of learning.

We have grown steadily over the past 20 years to become the largest expanded learning time organization in San Mateo County, sites in East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Redwood City, South San Francisco, Daly City and San Mateo. Our 24 program locations serve nearly 3,500 students countywide and are made possible with a $28 million organizational budget and through the talents of a 300-employee strong workforce that keeps growing.

Position Overview

The College Success Manager will work with high school seniors to provide the resources, support, tools and navigational skills they need to successfully pursue and complete higher education. The College Success Manager will work with a caseload of high school seniors to help them with the college application process and play a key role in ensuring seamless implementation of the Future Grads program. This program addresses the need for quality college advising in a community where few parents have historically attended college and where first-generation youth are not receiving the services they need to achieve their postsecondary goals.

Employment Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Pay Rate: $30.00-$33.00 per hour

Expected Work Schedule: 11:00 am-8:00 pm, M-F with occasional weekends

Location: San Mateo County

What will you do?

• Implement Future Grads: Senior Year Program, including program goals, program meetings and schedules at all of our SUHSD partner campuses and virtually as needed
• Meet 1:1 monthly with a caseload of seniors to provide college advising and help them pursue their postsecondary goals
• Establish and hold your students accountable to action plans and program requirements
• Maintain organized student records and tracking of program activities, including logging services on Salesforce database accurately and on time
• Develop & cultivate partnerships with volunteer college coaches to support your senior caseload
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with local partner high schools and stakeholders
• Manage communication with students, families, school staff, volunteer coaches, and other partners
• Support collaborative college success and high school programs & events
• Ongoing presence at our Clubhouse locations (East Palo Alto and Redwood City)

What will success look like?

• Demonstrate strong leadership qualities including the ability to coordinate, inspire and motivate others
• Successful implementation of senior program resulting in actively engaged seniors who maintain participation all year, successfully complete college & financial aid applications, and commit to postsecondary education by May of senior year
• Effectively collaborate with the whole Future Grads & BGCP High School teams
• Showcase high level of communication skills, both written and oral

What qualifications will the ideal candidate have?

• Spanish language ability strongly desirable
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience
• 2+ years working with high school and/or college aged students
• Ability to navigate different higher education institutions including community colleges, college applications, & financial aid systems
• Experience steering students through the financial aid & transfer application process
• Background working in an ethnically diverse community and in meeting the needs of the groups represented
• Strong initiative, self-starter, intrinsically motivated, problem solver, ability to work independently
• Strong interpersonal skills and youth development experience
• Great organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, and Google Apps
• Familiarity with Canva and social media platforms such as LinkedIn and Instagram
• Valid driver's license and driving history that would not disqualify you from insurance on BGCP's vehicles
