Environmental, Health & Safety Manager
This is a full-time, exempt level position

Job Summary
The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager will provide strategic leadership, direction and guidance regarding EH&S standards, systems and permits within a plant setting. Responsible for collaboration with a diverse group plant personnel, oversight of the EH&S performance in the facility and continuous improvement. Collaborate with locations teams to meet legal and ADM expectations.

Essential Job Functions
  • Work closely with Plant Management to achieve action plan success. Provide constant and consistent leadership, guidance and mentoring, and public presentation as necessary.
  • Effective implementation of standardized ADM Environmental, Health and Safety programs and systems to ensure compliance with company and local requirements.
  • Develop and present EH&S training for new hires and location colleagues as required.
  • Establish a sustainable EH&S improvement culture
  • Monitor, evaluate and report EH&S performance and suggest corrective and preventive actions to further improve performance
  • Build colleague commitment and enthusiasm for safety through effective leadership and influence.
  • Lead or have an integral involvement in incident investigations.
  • Recognizes hazards, conducts risk assessments and recommend controls and actions
  • Manages all environmental, health & safety reporting requirements
  • Act as a champion and mentor for colleague safety engagement that comes in many forms including behavior based safety.
  • Manage and provide oversight of injured colleague cases.
  • Maintains the site environmental permit(s) including all inspections and reports
  • Tracks, prepares and submits environmental reports to Federal and State agencies
  • Manages, plans, implements, and continuously improves the site Environmental Management System (EMS)
  • Manages the site environmental emergency response and asbestos management programs
  • Strong aptitude for the Management of Change (MOC) process
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Preferability in Occupational Health & Safety or related field
  • 5 years’ work experience in a health and safety position in an industrial plant setting
Job Requirements
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to lead, coach, build consensus and public presentation ability
  • Ability to write standard operating procedures and programs
  • Proven leadership skills demonstrated by experience
  • Proven ability to work effectively and enthusiastically on a team
  • Analytical problem solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Effective use of Microsoft office applications and Data Base Systems
  • Fluent in English – additional useful languages: Spanish
  • Employees in this position may or may not be exposed to various chemical and food allergens due to the nature of our business and the requirements of the job. The position requires the ability to work in a variety of environments: office environment and varying indoor and outdoor environments to include extreme heat and cold. The position requires the ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods as well as climb stairs and ladders.
