JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Scranton is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual for an Enrollment Specialist in the Enrollment Management Office.

The individual in this position will report to the Director of Enrollment Management and will assist the enrollment team in meeting each year's recruitment target and financial aid delivery from diverse populations including high school students, transfer applicants, and adult learners. They will also work with students in our service area including first-generation, PELL-eligible, veterans, and ELL prospective students. The counselor will be required to plan and implement programs and events for prospective students and their families.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Counsel prospective students and families regarding enrollment and financial aid processes throughout the admissions cycle

  • Respond to requests from individual applicants, families, and school counselors through phone, email, and virtual and in-person visits

  • Evaluate and analyze application credentials to determine eligibility for admission

  • Manage application follow-up by running reports and developing communication strategies to reach students with active applications

  • Knowledge of student aid and working collaboratively with the Financial Aid Coordinator to recruit, yield, and retain students

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of office technology including Microsoft Office Suite, and strong relationship-building skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and becoming a trusted resource throughout the enrollment process, sharing knowledge about the admissions process, academic programs, financial aid, campus life, and university structure - working across departments as needed

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher

  • Plus one year of related experience

  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Direct college admissions experience and knowledge of CRM software are preferred

  • The ability to manage concurrent projects with accuracy is required

  • Proven time management skills and attention to detail are essential, as is the ability to meet deadlines and juggle competing priorities

  • Additionally, ideal candidates will possess experience with recruiting diverse populations and event coordination

Candidate should be adaptable as duties within the office may occasionally change. Some travel and occasional weekend/evening work are required. Travel will consist of visits to high schools, college fairs, recruitment programs, University meetings, and conferences.
