Summary:

APTIM is continuing to grow our Sustainability Solutions Group and is seeking an Assistant Project Manager who demonstrates a commitment and enthusiasm for sustainability and will assist in managing, scoping, and coordinating sustainability project opportunities across APTIM's wide range of clients. This role will be key to coordinating, implementing, and managing APTIM's Sustainability Performance Evaluation Services. The position is located in Norfolk, Virginia area, and will require regular travel to client or project sites to conduct audits and assessments for various clients that may include spaces used for sports, hospitality, restaurant, and retail.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Supports the senior project manager with proper planning, coordination, execution and completion of sustainability projects with a strong focus on delivering each on time and within budget.
  • Participate in field work as needed to conduct sustainability related audits and assessments.
  • Manage client relationships, project planning, project document management, and assist in leading internal and external client coordination meetings.
  • Keep senior project manager informed concerning the progress of the project and any issues that might affect the schedule, budget or status of the project.
  • Managing multiple sustainability projects for clients in various sectors, including sports, hospitality, restaurant, and retail.
  • Support the preparation of proposals and participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads.
  • Support data management including data interpretation and recordkeeping.
  • Maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Keeping up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Working with other functional team leads to develop and share ideas and best practices.
  • Technical editing and document production.
  • Ensuring compliance with all APTIM quality and safety policies as well as all OSHA regulations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in sustainability, environmental policy, climate change, planning, environmental engineering or related field.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • 3-5 years of experience in sustainability and/or project management.
  • Experience in having open dialogue with clients.
  • Good broad understanding of sustainability topics including climate resilience, emerging technologies and renewables, zero waste planning, net zero and implementation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to support/manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail; independently resolve basic issues and/or escalate if necessary; work as part of a team to achieve outcomes, listening to other opinions and incorporating those ideas into the work plan; influence, negotiate, and form alliances with a variety of peers/clients; and liaise effectively with professional staff.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced with the design and implementation of sustainability programs such as energy, air emissions, waste and water.
  • Experience in business development, proposal development, and project management.
  • Experience in sustainability assessments and/or audits.
