Job Summary
EWU is currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Fiscal Analyst 3 within our Student Financial Services department. This is a senior level professional who is experienced in fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for general ledger journal entries, reconciliation processes, doubtful accounts review, and account code maintenance for the billing and receivables system (Banner) and the Campus Receivable Collector (CRC); provides all Student Financial Services formal reporting activities for revenue, disbursements, and loan processing.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of accounting and financial policy requirements. Independently plan, coordinate, and conduct financial reviews and analysis of fiscal data in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), statutes or regulations. Continually maintain accounting information and processes to meet GAAP, internal controls requirements, and state and federal guidelines.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or closely related field.
  • Two years of working in a professional accounting or auditing environment.
  • Experience with relational database tools and queries.
  • Experience with accounting principles.
  • Experience with spreadsheets, tables and charts or similar tools (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Progressive experience using financial and quantitative tools for analysis and reporting and the ability to think strategically and analytically, solve problems and make solutions-oriented recommendations and decisions.
  • Proficiency working with an ERP/integrated technology, including data query and extraction.
  • Experience with fiscal report design and preparation.
  • Experience with analysis of large data sets, including evaluation of findings that require data entry, analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with internal control evaluation and/or audit techniques.
  • Prior experience in a higher education or governmental setting.

  • Reconcile monthly Banner/CRC system totals to ensure system integrity.
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of Banner account code ledger and create journal vouchers for corrections in the general ledger. Coordinate financial accounting system information with Billing and Receivables accounting codes. Initiate updates as needed.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of daily cash and disbursement activity. Prepare daily cash adjustment and disbursement adjustment transactions.
  • Reconcile and initiate formal reporting for tuition, tuition waivers, direct loans, institutional scholarships, and the Perkin’s Loan program (including estimated collections and the annual FISAP reporting).
