Oregon State University is looking for multiple Food Service Worker 1 employees.
These are entry-level, academic year (10-month), classified positions on the Corvallis campus. Both full-time and part-time positions are available.

Position Duties
Responsibilities:
The purpose of this position is to provide customer service support to various micro-restaurants, which may include cashier duties, serving and stocking, as well as consistent support to the cleaning of the dining room and washing of dishes. This position requires good communication skills and knowledge of food service safety and sanitation procedures.

About Dining Services at Oregon State University:
University Housing & Dining Services (UHDS) offers a variety of dining options across campus. We are a self-operated food service department that serves food in micro-restaurants using fresh ingredients. We are known for the great care we take of students and other guests.

University Housing & Dining Services houses over 4,800 students and offers a variety of living and dining options in 15 residence halls, three dining centers, a market, catering, and 10-14 convenience and coffee shop locations across the Corvallis campus. We employ over 150 professional dining employees and 800 student employees. We provide clean, sanitary working environments for our guests and employees that are regularly maintained and serviced. And we partner with Benton County Health to help ensure we are operating at the highest safety levels. Everyone is welcome to eat at any dining location on campus, so come check us out.

Additional Required Qualifications
  • Good customer service skills, with both internal and external customers.
  • Requires a valid Food Handler’s certificate within 30 days of employment. Must maintain certification throughout service with UHDS.
  • This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OAR 576-555 0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.

  • This a physically active job in an institutional kitchen environment. Incumbent will experience long periods of standing on a hard floor; working with commercial kitchen equipment; fluctuation in work flow, temperature, noise level
  • Must be able to work shift on your feet and perform frequent arm movements
  • The employee in this position will often be required to lift/carry/push/pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Will require direct and/or indirect contact with raw meat, as well as most common food allergens, including gluten
  • OSU is a 100% tobacco-free campus
  • Work Schedule
  • UHDS dining operations run seven days per week, so weekend and holiday work may be required. OSU requires the ability to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the business.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work in any area of the dining center as directed
  • This position is deemed essential; and the incumbent is expected to report to work during inclement weather, emergency and other University work curtailments or closures
  • Good attendance is crucial for stability and day-to-day business needs. Must follow schedule and be on time and in uniform when shift begins.
