Job description
Under the general supervision of the Grounds Supervisor, the groundskeeper is responsible for the maintenance of the college grounds including athletic fields, lawns, shrubbery, trees, care of new and existing flower beds, use of heavy machinery and equipment, application of landscaping chemicals, snow removal, and assistance in preparation of college events on college grounds. The groundskeeper is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.
Education/Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); current spray chemical license as required by state/federal law or appropriate training to receive license; minimum of one year experience in care of grounds, nursery gardening and related work.
Qualifications
Must have knowledge of grounds care as related to turf, shrubs and trees; must be able to operate grounds equipment (tractors, mowers, etc.); must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to qualify as insurable by college liability insurance carrier.
