JOB SUMMARY

The clinical educator is responsible for providing clinical education to healthcare providers across the Munson Healthcare System using adult learning principles. Will be coordinating and conducting AHA BLS ACLS and PALS courses along with providing simulation training. Be a part of a robust and diverse learning and development team supporting the needs of Munson Healthcare and the communities we serve.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
  • Registered Nurse with the State of Michigan.

  • Bachelor's degree required in Nursing, Education, or related field. At least three years of acute care nursing experience required. Master’s degree is a plus.

  • One year of formal classroom experience as an adult educator is recommended.

  • Experience in the development and coordination of educational programs is recommended.

  • Demonstrates ability to communicate accurately and effectively, orally and in writing. Prior education or experience must indicate ability to develop, plan, implement, and evaluate ideas, and collaborate effectively with others.

  • Maintains own professional/personal growth.

  • May be required to lift more than 35 pounds.


ORGANIZATION

Works under the supervision of the Manager, Clinical Education.

Consults with and receives requests for educational activities from various sources within Munson Healthcare. Works in conjunction with and shares duties and responsibilities with other education instructor(s).

Maintains contact with members of the nursing staff, instructors of affiliated schools of nursing and with other departments within the healthsystem.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
  • Supports the Mission, Vision and Values of Munson Healthcare.

  • Promotes personal and patient safety.

  • Uses effective customer service/interpersonal skills at all times.

  • Functions within the policies and procedures of the hospital and the performance standards established by Staff Development for the Health Care Educator.

  • Maintains the quality of educational programs being delivered.

  • Reviews and updates departmental policy and procedures as needed.

  • Serves as a consultant in the development of educational programs for any department or service as requested.

  • Administrates the nursing contact hour credit continuing education providership process.*

  • Prepares or supervises the preparation and maintenance of reports and files for accreditation approval.*

  • Conducts training programs as needed. Evaluates the skills and activities of new employees in training.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Signifies specific duties of the Health Care Educator with a BSN or higher degree in nursing who is administratively responsible for the providership process for nursing continuing education.
