* * * * Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part time employees.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Archives Project Assistant is responsible for extramural grant deliverable activities of ‘Ulu‘ulu: The Henry Ku‘ualoha Giugni Moving Image Archive of Hawai‘i. Duties include:


  • Provide assistance for various digital archival projects.
  • Perform quality control on digital video preservation and access files
  • Prepare shipments of archival material to preservation vendors
  • Perform metadata entry into content management database
  • Perform various clerical duties to maintain project files and inventory
  • Other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree
  • 1 year of professional experience in an academic library or archival setting; or equivalent education/training or experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  • Knowledge of the film and video production process and materials associated with a production.
  • Knowledge of Hawaiian media history, culture, and language.
  • Experience in a collaborative and collegial setting.
  • Productive attitude and enthusiasm for an innovative and changing environment.
