This position reports to the Correctional Programs Director I at a medium custody male correctional facility and must be able to work under stressful conditions to meet daily/monthly deadlines. Responsibilities of this position include; but are not limited to, the following:

• 
  Working closely with population management to facilitate the transfer of offenders in and out of the facility.
• Maintaining offender field jackets and coordinating trips, transfers, and the backlogging of offenders.
• Maintaining files and records effectively according to departmental policy allowing for quick, easy access, and retrieval of requested information.
• Composing memorandums and letters with limited or no instruction. Proofreading documents for spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
• Entering and comprehending computer generated data and reviewing completed tasks to ensure accuracy and integrity of information.
• Receiving and processing sectional mail.
• Maintaining confidentiality and working well independently in close proximity to other staff.
• Compiling data from a variety of sources and reports.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. (Established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business needs).

The salary grade for this position is NC09. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

DAC is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance and Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs and Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation and Reentry.

Pender Correctional Institution is located in Burgaw, North Carolina and houses up to 768 male offenders in a medium custody facility.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of related administrative experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience.
