The Logistics Specialist (LS) will execute on the carrier sales components of the business. The LS is a key component of the company and focuses on the execution of our Customers’ logistics needs of sourcing and booking freight while exceeding their expectations through display of our Core Values. This position will also provide operational prowess for the customer while cultivating and enhancing carrier relationships to meet the expectation of our offering.

Primary Job Duties

• Source, book and dispatch available freight
• Execute Customer Operations process in accordance with Customer SOPs
• Utilize TMS software to accurately send rate confirmations and ensure acceptance by carrier
• Ensure operational processing of order movements is managed successfully within TMS
• Provide proactive and detailed communication to Account Management and Operations teams
• Book customer freight through negotiation, with market awareness
• Optimize carrier relationships to ensure ideal and efficient coverage of freight
• Develop new carrier relationships and identify new opportunities with current carriers
• Ensure all carriers meet and exceed compliance required prior to booking
• Qualify carriers based on modes of transportation, size and regions traveled
• Effectively communicate new carrier characteristics to Account Management and Operations teams
• Accurately provide driver and load information, and provide updates on carrier partners
• Responsible for after-hours support
• Other duties as assigned

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• 2+ years experience in Logistics
• Prior experience in a TMS (transportation management system) they use McLeod but they will train in that specific software
• Basic Microsoft Office Experience
• General awareness of procurement methods
• Ability to follow both Operations and Account Management SOPs where applicable
• Willing to be available after hours and weekends if needed
