Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI) in Madison, WI is currently recruiting for two (2) Nurse Clinician 3 (NC3) positions.

MMHI is conveniently located on the north side of Madison and offers a beautiful campus environment, convenient free parking and an onsite workout facility. MMHI is an inpatient psychiatric facility, with one outpatient program, specializing in serving patients with complex psychiatric conditions, often combined with certain problem behaviors. Position Summary


The NC3 serves as a team leader to nursing staff assigned to the unit. The NC3 uses a bio-psychosocial and recovery model as a basis for nursing practice in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care needs, delivers nursing care to all assigned patients, and coordinates and supervises all delegated nursing activities. The NC3 collaborates with the multidisciplinary team in treatment/learning plan development, presents specific nursing interventions congruent with the treatment needs identified in the individualized treatment plan and promotes a professional role for nursing within the team.

This position provides leadership to nursing staff through planning, directing, implementing, and coordinating patient care and unit activities. This position shares responsibility with the Unit Manager in ensuring Unit Programs, Institute policies and Department work rules are adhered to by nursing staff and others as indicated. The NC3 serves as a consultant for more complex patient cases, assesses leaning needs of self, patients, staff and others, and actively seeks out opportunities to enhance knowledge. This position verifies and manages the unit nursing staff competency evaluation process.

Salary Information


The starting salary is between $45.11 and $49.27 per hour (approximately between $93,800 and $102,400 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 11/01.

Job Details

Qualifications


Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin. Eligible is defined as your license is currently in progress with the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services, or you currently hold a license in another state and are eligible to obtain a license in the State of Wisconsin. You must obtain licensure by the time of appointment.
  • Experience working as an RN providing direct care to psychiatric patients.
  • Experience working in a nurse leadership role (e.g., Charge Nurse, Supervisor, Nurse Educator, or similar leadership role) performing duties such as providing coaching, training, and/or guidance to nursing staff.

Well-qualified applicants will also have at least one of the following:

  • Experience developing a nursing plan of care for psychiatric patients.
