Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Assistant for the Office of Clinical Affairs within the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM). This position will be based out of our Somerdale, NJ location and will require travel to our other two Center locations (Galloway, NJ and Northfield, NJ).
The Program Assistant coordinates and monitors the activities of staff to expedite quality patient care and facilitate the educational programs for students/residents. Assists the Dean of the Extramural Clinics with implementing quality assurance procedures, providing training and work direction for Lead Dental Assistant(s) with auxiliary services at the Dental Centers within the Extramural Clinics.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Makes recommendations to the Dental Director for ways to improve and organize Center for maximum efficiency. Upon the Director’s approval, implements recommendation at all Centers within the Extramural Clinics.
  • Monitors the preventive maintenance schedule of all Center Equipment. Receives reports of equipment malfunctions or breakdowns, makes appropriate alternative arrangements and makes provisions for repairs. Ensures preventive maintenance schedules are maintained at all Centers with the Extramural Clinics.
  • Provides chairside assistance on an as needed basis.
  • Under the direction of the Assistant Dean for Extramural Clinics, requests quotes and orders equipment/supplies necessary for facility operation.
  • Monitors and updates all RSDM Extramural Clinics infection control and environmental safety policies and procedures, and ensures compliance with Federal, State and University requirements, including updates of the Exposure Control Plan and Infection Control Manual based upon new recommendations from OSHA, CDC, OSAP and current review of the literature on infection control procedures and practices.
  • Maintains quarterly biological monitoring and swab testing results for the Extramural Clinics.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field plus one (1) year of experience as a lead dental assistant, office manager or center coordinator.
  • Additional related experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

Certifications/Licenses
  • Must possess a valid CDA and Dental Radiographic Technology license issued by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
  • Certification in CPR.

Preferred Qualifications
  • English/Spanish speaking.
