Normal Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm

Job Summary: Under limited supervision, assists the department head or director in the day-to-day operations of a program. Oversees the program support, general office, administrative and secretarial duties with some variety and complexity. Typical duties may include overseeing some aspects of the program, acting as the main liaison to other offices within the University as well as external contacts, maintaining budget records, supervising other support staff and-or students, arranging meetings-itineraries-agendas, typing a variety of material, compiling data and preparing reports, and purchasing office and program supplies and materials.

Additional Department Summary: Program Assistant manages access (swipe cards and keys) and work orders for four buildings: Shelby, Science & Engineering Complex (SEC), Lloyd & Bevill. These building house the Departments of Chemistry, Biology, Geology, New College, some faculty from Geography, Anthropology and several Engineering departments, as well as the AARC. Position also schedules conference rooms, commons space, indoor and outdoor event spaces, and after-hours classroom usage in these buildings. Serves as building liaison and as the main point of contact between building residents and EHS, Custodial Services, and outside contractors. Submits maintenance requests, coordinates with Facilities and outside contractors to schedule work and monitors the maintenance work being done. Tracks building assets (office furniture, lab furnishings, etc.) as they are moved and stored, including assisting with lab and office cleanouts. Monitors classroom seating and ensures that the correct number of chairs and desks are in each classroom before classes begin each semester.

Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or the equivalent and three (3) years of general office experience; OR Associate's degree and one (1) year of general office experience; OR a Bachelor's degree.
