Job description
Manage all purchasing and related functions for the operating and sponsored research awards for approximately 32 Principal Investigators (PIs) as well as for sales and service under the Biology Group's purview. Reconcile ledgers, prepare accounting forms, and post service unit recharges.

Required/Preferred

1. Demonstrated working knowledge of procurement practices.

2. Demonstrated skill in Purchasing/ Accounts Payable systems, the university system experience is preferable.

3. Demonstrated ability to use spreadsheet and database software to generate reports, including extracts from mainframe sources.

4. Strong communication skills for dealing with a diverse clientele including vendors, sales representatives, principal investigators, central administrative staff and others.

5. Demonstrated ability to initiate travel reimbursements.

6. Skill in effecting detailed procedures with accuracy and timeliness.

7. Knowledge of electronic purchasing, e-commerce and other industry practices.

8. Demonstrated skill in writing clear, concise, logical, and grammatically correct business correspondence and analyses.

9. Knowledge of accounting, account reconciliation, and correcting errors in accounting transactions.

10. Demonstrated skill in using word processing and editing software and web-based formats.

11. Strong organizational abilities in managing administrative and logistical processes.

12. Ability to effectively communicate complex financial and administrative information to a diverse clientele.

13. Demonstrated working ability to correctly balance ledgers and to generate adjustments in a timely fashion.
