Responsibilities
Sr. Linux Administrator with a primary focus on RedHat Enterprise Linux along with proficiencies in other Linux distributions. Provide a critical role in managing the extensive Linux server infrastructure, ensuring its efficient operation, support, and lifecycle management, in a 24 x 7 x 365 enterprise and cloud infrastructure. This is a senior-level engineering role requiring a strong technical background and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Perform Linux installations, configurations, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance activities on bare metal hardware, virtual and cloud environments, in an Enterprise and heterogenous high availability infrastructure.
- Install software releases, patches of the operating system and utilities, third-party products, and opensource software across hundreds of Linux hosts.
- Work with the Information Security team on identified vulnerabilities, assessing validity and impact to infrastructure and organization and implementing where appropriate.
- Deploy and support core logging, monitoring, and alerting (notification) capabilities to track health, performance, and maintain system standards.
- Act as a subject matter expert, especially with regards to problem diagnosis and resolution as needed for data/network center support.
- Maintain a secure environment by resolving system emergencies with significant impact on the integrity of user data and systems.
- Escalation Administrator for TOC and after-hours On-Call administrators.
Qualifications
Required Minimum Education:
- High school diploma Required and
- Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or related field (industry experience can be used in lieu of CS field) Required
Required Minimum Experience:
- Minimum 5 years Linux administration. Required
- Minimum 2 years Large Environment 10k+ employees. Preferred
- Minimum 7 years Overall Infrastructure. Required
- Minimum 9 years General Information Technology. Required
- Minimum 2 years RedHat distribution experience in a 200+ server environment. Preferred
Required Minimum Skills:
- Knowledge of Disk SAN’s and Disk Frames in the HP, IBM and EMC family’s. Medium
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. High
- The individual must be able to communicate and have good team building skills. High
Required Minimum Skills:
- Self motivator and strong leadership qualities, multitasking and problem resolution. High
- Designing, implementing, and supporting backup & replication technologies utilizing Linux. Low
- Knowledge of AIX, Power Hardware, and HMC. Low
- Zero-Trust Architecture. Low
- Administration skills in RedHat, Ubuntu, CentOS Linux-based production systems, VMware products (vSphere ESXi), Fibre Channel NetApp SAN infrastructure, XFS, ZFS, GFS2, LVM filesystem management. High
- RedHat Clustering. Medium
- Data Centers. Low
- Administration skills in user account management, LDAP, SSSD, DNS and DHCP services. High
