Summer Camp Classroom Teacher

The Community Lifestyle/Jubilee Center Sumer Camp offers recreational opportunities and educational support of the children of Hoboken for 8 weeks during the summer. The educational component seeks to help children retain learning from the prior school year to prepare them for success when school resumes in the fall. The approximately 70 children attending camp range in age from 6-16, with the older children (13-16) serving as camp counselors. The intent is that the summer education portion of camp be fun and engaging to spark interest in learning. Many of the children come from underserved communities and have had their education badly disrupted over the past couple of years; re-engaging them with the learning process and joy of achievement is a summer goal.

Orientation & Training: June 26th-28th

Summer Camp dates: July 5th - August 25th

Working Hours: 16 hours/week Monday to Thursday

Location: Hoboken, NJ

Position description:

• Follow designated curriculum which dovetails with their school curriculum
• Supervise camp counselors assigned to your age group
• Work collaboratively with education coordinator to assure quality programming
• Administer and review tests to determine proficiency in various subjects

Hourly rate: $35-$50 (experience dependent)

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree
• 2 years’ experience as a classroom teacher (preferred)
• Must be eligible to work in the US
• Must be eligible to work with children
• Bilingual (Spanish) and work with children of low-income communities a plus

Additional requirements:

• Must be fully vaccinated and be willing to comply with camp protocols for COVID, including testing and mask-wearing as needed
• Must submit to a background check
