For nearly 50 years, The University of Oklahoma Outreach, National Resource Center for Youth Services (NRCYS) has been improving the effectiveness of human services through training, capacitybuilding consultation, and other services. Over the years, our resources have helped support the missions of various human service organizations in Oklahoma and across the nation.

NRCYS is looking for a Trainer committed to providing training and consultation grounded in five core principles for working with children, youth, and families (Trauma Responsiveness, Youth Development, Permanent Connections, Cultural Responsiveness, and Collaboration).

Position Summary:

This position will support the program's outreach and extension goals and event promotion by assisting in developing and managing the program website, social media accounts, email campaigns, and the creation of various publications and reports. This position will assist with coordinating, delivering, and evaluating learning events for individuals and organizations serving children, youth, and families.

Duties:

1. Assists with the copy and content for electronic, print, merchandise, promotional, and multimedia communications projects. (30%)

2. Produces and edits content, including writing, editing, and the online posting of announcements, articles, photographs, and videos for the program's website and social media accounts to support the program's mission and initiatives. (20%)

3. Coordinates inperson and online learning events for a statewide training program. (25%)

4. Trains professionals working with children, youth, and families to support state and national initiatives of NRCYS. (10%)

5. Assists in the design and development of curriculum, workshops, online training, and other learning opportunities to support state and national initiatives of NRCYS. (5%)

6. Plans and attends internal and external meetings. (5%)

7. Write reports, professional correspondence, and other projectrelated documents. (5%)

8. Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the position's function and fulfill the contract's requirements.

9. Maintains knowledge and skills of legislation, best practices, and child, youth, and family services trends.

10. Utilizes data to guide workrelated decisions.

11. Upholds, safeguards, and engages in activities to support the University mission, NRCYS vision, mission, values, and core principles of NRCYS.


Job Requirements


Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, education, or a related field and:
  • Combined Experience: 1836 months in any of the following areas
  • Adult learning and professional development
  • Event management and promotion
  • Learning management systems
  • Website and social media curatorship
  • Marketing, communications, or public relations
  • Training presentation and group facilitation
  • Experience with online and blending learning
  • Subject matter knowledge of supporting children and youth in the successful transition to adulthood

Required Skills and Proficiencies:

1. Strong verbal and written communication skills

2. Cultural humility and responsiveness knowledge and skills, including understanding its relevance to training.

3. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

4. Ability to provide highquality services while managing multiple projects under strict deadlines.

5. Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development (including knowledge of accessing child welfare legislation and continuing education resources).

6. Ability to think critically, problemsolve, and exercise professional judgment.

7. Excellent interpersonal skills (including delivering highquality customer service and participating in crossdepartmental work teams).

8. A working knowledge and skills in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Departmental Preferences:

Master's degree in human services, education, or a related field and:

  • Experience working with children and youth in developing knowledge and skills needed to successfully transition to adulthood.
  • Experience working with human service systems (child welfare, mental health, education, juvenile justice, etc.)
  • Subject matter knowledge of traumaresponsive service provision.
  • Subject matter knowledge of culturally responsive service provision.
  • Subject matter knowledge of youth engagement and leadership activities
  • Subject matter knowledge of services that foster healthy youth development and wellbeing.
  • Experience collaborating with public and private child welfare and/or child and youthserving organizations

Supervision: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
