Job description

We are seeking a team member with experience in both ecology and urban design to lead client-facing projects advising on the integration of nature into urban design and development. The successful candidate will be able to develop project concepts and deliver high-quality products that reflect current scientific knowledge, local ecology, and client priorities. Clear communication of complex ideas and ability to navigate conflicting priorities across multiple stakeholders are essential.

This is an hourly position with an expected 30-40 hours per week. It is fully remote, with the majority of the team based in California and the expectation that all team members will meet in person in the San Francisco Bay Area on a semi-annual basis. Compensation is commensurate with experience, in the range of $60-$80 per hour.

Second Nature Ecology and Design LLC brings together the science of landscape ecology and climate resilience with urban design and planning. We work creatively with designers, city staff, community groups, managers, and other urban actors from around the world to bring the beauty, inspiration, and performative benefits of nature into complex urban settings. We specialize in collaborative master planning processes; building public-private partnerships to advance nature-based climate resilience and biodiversity support; and incorporating science-based ecological targets into sustainability strategies.
