YOUR LIFE AS A VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION TRAINING FACILITATOR

As a Vocational Rehabilitation Training Facilitator with our nonprofit, you have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our Pathways to Prosperity employees and participants. Your role is critical in coordinating training functions, developing curricula, and delivering training that equips these individuals with the skills they need to succeed in their careers.

By facilitating hard skills certified training to participants incarcerated at Rikers Island on a variety of subject matter, you are providing them with the tools they need to achieve success upon their release. You work closely with the jail-based facilitator and employment services staff to identify training needs and develop the curriculum and materials required to meet those needs.

In this role, you have the opportunity to not only give assignments to participants but also track their performance and progress, ensuring that they are able to reach their full potential. By completing weekly reports and maintaining a clear written calendar of weekly classes while ensuring a monthly rotational schedule, you are instrumental in keeping our program running smoothly.

Furthermore, your role extends beyond training and into employment for job seekers. You attend weekly evaluation and training team meetings to provide feedback to job developers, organize hiring fairs, and host presentations from hiring managers on a quarterly basis for job seekers. Your work directly impacts the success of these individuals in their job search and career development.

WHAT IS REQUIRED TO BE A VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION TRAINING FACILITATOR?

  • Bachelor's degree in adult education, education, human relations, psychology, social work, or a related field
  • n
  • Experience with workforce development
  • n
  • Ability to teach hard skills class, including OSHA/Flaggers, electrical, plumbing, building maintenance, construction, or other recognized industries
  • n
  • Knowledge of the rehabilitation field
  • n
  • Covid-19 vaccination
  • n
