Job Description


This position will be physically located at Flagstaff Mountain Campus (FMC) and will provide support to the department’s proposed Hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) graduate program and the administrative faculty involved in the curriculum development for current and new programs. Currently, post-professional DPT students are enrolled at both the Phoenix Bioscience Core (PBC) campus and FMC. The Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training exists across both the FMC and PBC campuses. The programs offered by the department are year-round, full-time, residential graduate programs with 225 graduate students who are supported by 21 full-time faculty, 18 adjunct/part-time faculty.

Operations and Administration - 50%

  • Develop and maintain a database for DPT hybrid program and course outcome data.
  • Organizes electronic and paper files related to CHHS, the department and its programs, and courses as requested by Department Chair and/or Hybrid Program Director.
  • Implements and follows department operation standard procedures and operations related to daily operations and travel reimbursement.
  • Manages faculty searches for the Hybrid DPT Program. Informs Department Chair and Hybrid Program Director of important updates and manages the search process in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Manages the coordination and communication of adjunct faculty travel and accommodations for immersion labs as a part of the Hybrid DPT Program.
  • Arrange guest and adjunct faculty parking for immersion labs on respective campus(es).
  • Serve as the point of contact for external (to the department) customer service inquiries. Monitor program-specific email lists. Provide excellent customer service in person, virtually, and over the phone.
  • Facilitate communication among department administrators, faculty, staff and students.
  • Order and maintain supplies required for DPT Hybrid class instruction and scholarship for assigned programs.
  • Hosts student facing events on behalf of the Hybrid DPT program, including: student orientation, graduation, etc.

Executive Support - 25%

  • Assist and support the Department Chair and Hybrid Program Directors with day-to-day scheduling, appointments, and activities.
  • Assist and support the Department Chair and Hybrid Program Directors with preparing and organizing NAU, NEI, CHHS, accreditation, policy, outcomes/assessments, financial documents, files and folders.
  • Serves as a liaison between the department faculty, staff and the CHHS Dean’s office.
  • Prepare, organize and disseminate meeting agendas and minutes as requested by Department Chair and Hybrid Program Directors.

Course Scheduling and Programmatic Oversight - 20%

  • Create the Hybrid Program master calendar of courses in conjunction with Program Director and faculty. Ensure the schedule meets degree progression requirements for enrolled students and other NAU requirements.
  • Communicate the master calendar of courses to needed stakeholders in a timely manner. Coordinate with CHHS Dean’s office to ensure the enaction of the department master calendar.
  • Reserve spaces for Hybrid program related activities in accordance with operating procedures of NAU.
  • Modify course schedules as needed and inform supervisor of needed support.

Other - 5%

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in business or field appropriate to the department.
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant experience.
  • A combination of related education, experience and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Requirements.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in administrative support in higher education.
  • Experience with data base management.
  • Experience in healthcare or clinical environments.

Background Information


This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities. Salary


Salary range begins at $41,421. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.


FLSA Status


This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position. Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits. Additionally, new employees will begin participating in the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it, on the first of the pay period following 6 months after the new employee's start date.
