Job Summary:

The primary role of the Assistant Program Manager (APM) is to assist the Program Manager in serving the staff and client needs of the residence.
  • Participate as a team player in MPA's residential treatment model for youth
  • Supervise youth, in accordance with MPA policies, procedures and the youth's individual treatment plans
  • Facilitate the residential program's structured routine
  • Coordinate, manage and participate in recreational and educational programming for youth
  • Ensure that clothing and other personal needs of students in residence are met in accordance with applicable policy
  • Ensure that all new students are properly orientated upon arrival
  • Maintain ongoing, professional dialogue with Milieu Clinician assigned to the residence including timely reporting of critical incidents and other pertinent information
  • Clearly and professionally document all services provided according to program policies and procedures
  • Facilitate and confirm that new faculty participate in the Faculty Institute within 1 month of start date
  • Monitor and ensure complete and timely entry of milieu notes each night and family contact notes for each occurrence
  • Provide relevant curriculum/policy-based training and ensure that faculty attend mandatory Wednesday Residential Training
  • Maintain system of communication in residence so that youth counselors receive timely information about student treatment, incident/events, policy changes, etc.
  • Maintain weekly faculty schedule
  • Review, assess and sign/address bi-weekly time sheets to confirm each employees' hours worked within the approved schedules
  • Use training to provide behavioral management and crisis intervention
  • Teach youth social skills
  • Engage in behavioral management techniques, in accordance with policies, procedures and training
  • Communicate effectively with other employees, youth and stakeholders
  • Engage and connect with youth as a compassionate professional
  • Uphold professional conduct boundaries with youth, families and other stakeholders at all times
  • Attend professional trainings and workshops, and strive to understand and implement all trainings and workshops in residential programming
  • Manage facilities so they are clean, orderly and free of all hazards
  • Provide supervision, guidance to Youth Counselors, including routine documented supervision
  • Manage physical plant needs on the community, requesting maintenance support when appropriate
  • Assist in managing the transportation fleet, maintain open communication regarding student transportation needs
  • Manage weekly communication to entire team about student progress
  • Abide by all MPA policies and procedures
  • Ability to successfully complete all phases or pre-service training and on-going training as required by state and MPA policy
  • Ability to work in occasionally high pressure, high stress and physical environment. Position may experience verbal and /or physical aggression from client population
  • Computer literacy, organization and solid writing and editing skills are essential
  • Independent problem-solving skills and be willing to seek assistance and guidance when needed.

Qualifications/Requirements:



Valid Driver's License
Meet safe driver guidelines as established by employer’s insurance carrier
Position requires criminal background check
21 years or older
Associate or bachelor’s degree or 60 college credits.
Or: A high school diploma or GED and one of the following:
The equivalent of 2 years of full-time experience working with children
OR any combination of credits in human services & experience with children that totals 2 years
OR 7 years of parenting experience
OR requirements that meet NH Child Care Licensing Regulation He-C 4001.19
