Job Description
Position Summary
This is a Full-Time Seasonal General Manager role.
Truckee BCycle is looking for a General Manager to build and lead the Truckee BCycle Team and manage the seasonal operation of the program, which is expected to run between March – November 2023. The General Manager will be an organized self-starter who enjoys the challenge of a dynamic environment, works well with a variety of people, and is committed to delivering high quality service. Prospective employees must possess excellent operations, management and customer service skills. As the leader of a small team, the General Manager will wear a lot of hats—from working on the physical/technical product in the field and workshop, to developing and implementing strategies for driving program ridership, to serving as the public face of Truckee BCycle in the community.
Responsibilities
Leadership:
  • Make Truckee BCycle the best bike share system in the world, and lead your team and business with a combination of will and humility
  • Work with BCycle, LLC and Trek Bicycle to set program Objectives and Key Results for your business’s success
  • Directly manage and lead a small team of BCycle Technicians, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation
  • Be a source of positive energy in all interactions; keep a fun & flexible attitude, and focus efforts on aspects of the business that are in your direct control
  • Set high standards for yourself and others; hold people accountable
  • Act with a high sense of urgency and get things done fast
  • Serve as the public face of Truckee BCycle for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead with honesty and integrity in all aspects of business
Project Management:
  • Serve as the overall Project Manager for the Truckee BCycle launch, leading the process to:
    • Work with the City to obtain site permits and approvals
    • Install stations/docks
    • Set up operations workshop and service vehicle
    • Assemble e-bikes
    • Hire and train technical operations staff member(s)
    • Support community outreach efforts
    • Manage the seasonal removal & re-installation of bike share system annually
Operations:
  • Ensure seamless day-to-day operational management of the BCycle bike share system, including:
    • Ongoing maintenance of the e-bike fleet
    • Station and dock mechanical and technical performance
    • Station power management
    • E-Bike fleet power management (battery swaps and charging)
    • Bike station rebalancing & bike recovery
    • Station and bike cleanliness
    • Deployment of system-wide upgrades
    • Customer service & special event support
    • Manage workshop operations and service vehicle fleet including tool and maintenance parts inventory
    • Manage & forecast budget with support from BCycle’s Finance Manager
Customer Service:
  • Manage a customer-first approach to service in the field
  • Ensure timely response to customer communications across multiple platforms
  • As needed, directly communicate with customers in-person, electronically, and over the phone
  • Coordinate with customer service and operation feedback to serve the needs of customers
Analytics:
  • Perform weekly reporting and analysis to identify opportunities for growth and improvement across the business
  • Provide program reporting to BCycle and community stakeholders
  • Distribute and analyze surveys to improve the customer experience
  • Use internal and external metrics to project growth opportunities
Business Development:
  • Develop strategic and focused working relationships with Town staff, community leaders, key stakeholders and Trek Bicycle & BCycle LLC
  • Grow the business by building partnerships with community stakeholders, program sponsors, and community partners
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive system ridership, rider retention, and system-generated revenues
Marketing & Communication:
  • Work with the Marketing team at BCycle LLC to promote the Truckee BCycle system through public-facing communication, website, social media, customer communications, Annual Report, sponsor reports, press releases, and media interaction
Requirements:

Must have great energy, a can-do attitude, and the ability to work well with all kinds of people in fluid environments.
  • Effective leadership and management skills
  • Organized employee, with the ability to self-direct under a high-visibility, start-up environment responsible for delivering a 24/7 public transit service.
  • Proven mechanical, electrical or technical experience and ability to learn and understand the software and the hardware technical needs of a bike share system.
  • High proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint and ability to learn new software.
  • Prior experience directly managing a team of employees.
  • Ability to coordinate and maintain strong ongoing relationships among multiple parties, including employees, customers, and vendors
  • Ability to adapt to changing roles.
  • Valid driver license and clean driving record (no major violations in past 5 years; no more than 2 minor in past 3 years).
  • Job may require hours that exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week. May require on-call support & some availability nights and weekends.
  • Requires stooping, reaching, biking, and lifting of 60+ pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct experience leading and managing bike share / micro mobility operations
A familiarity with Bosch e-bike Systems and tech certified or willing to learn about electric systems.

Compensation Range
Annual Salary $58,000.00 - $66,500.00
