Behavioral Health Technician

DESCRIPTION

Behavioral Health Technicians are mental health employees who provide hands-on care to individuals with varying degrees of mental illnesses and/or developmental disabilities. BHT’s perform a vital, front-line function in all healthcare settings as they observe, treat and interact with patients.

This position carries out therapists’ orders, serving as the eyes, ears and hands of the diagnosing professional. They report back on how the treatment is working or any unusual symptoms that need professional attention. They help clients with personal grooming and other activities of daily living. They also help conduct educational, recreational and therapeutic activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Carrying out individual treatment plans prescribed by medical professionals

Monitoring clients and recording your observations

Leading Client Group Therapies or Psychosocial Rehabilitation

Reporting back on each client’s progress and concerns, utilizing agency

Ensuring clients have a safe and supportive environment

Diffusing situations in which clients wish to harm themselves or others

Providing emotional support to clients

Alerting medical professionals to intervene in crisis situations

Carrying out assessments, intake and other administrative tasks

Maintaining strict client and confidentiality, being knowledgeable in regard to HIPPA

BHT REQUIREMENTS

MUST BE 18 years of age or older; 21 years preferable

Certification or Associates Degree in Behavioral Health

Experience working in a mental health institution or psychiatric ward a plus.

Ability to treat clients with dignity and empathy

Strong listening and communication skills

Acute observation skills

Computer Literacy

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract, Temporary

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 4 hour shift
• Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Suite 270 Phoenix, AZ 85015: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Behavioral health: 2 years (Preferred)
• BHT and note taking: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Preferred)
• BHT Certificate or experience (Required)
