This position is 64 hours in a 2-week period, on day/evening shift. This is a benefit eligible position!
Fairview Health Services is looking for a Cook First - 113, on the Southdale Campus in Edina, Minnesota. Do you have a love and passion for food? Here at M-Health Fairview we put love and care into every plate that we serve. Our passion to prepare and serve food extends beyond the kitchen. Prepares and serves hot and cold foods for all customers using standardized recipes and accurate food handling techniques.
The Cook-First is responsible for preparing food items as assigned, using standardized recipes, to meet established standards of high quality. This is a position where you will be able to acquire experience and knowledge, in a fast paced team environment, where customer service and food service skills are appreciated. The Cook First - 113 staff are given the opportunity to directly influence the patient, guest, and staff experience by preparing and serving the food that sustains everyone through their healing or their work. Location: Southdale hospital, located in Edina
Schedule:
Week 1:
- Prepares items as they are ordered.
- Prepares food products to meet temperature, and quality standards.
- Follows standardized recipes, to assure products are consistent in quality, and nutritional value.
- Assembles food within appropriate time frames.
- Handles, prepares and stores food in a safe manner, following HACCP standardized operating procedures.
- Records and documents temperatures of food items, and makes appropriate adjustments to achieve standards.
- Sanitizes equipment and work area per assigned schedules, and designated procedure.
- Takes ownership for self and others, in work area.
- Demonstrates ability to provide care, or service adjusting approaches, to reflect developmental level, and cultural differences of population served.
- Any other tasks assigned by management, within reason.
- 1-3 years of cook experience
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to communicate both verbally, and in writing, using English
- Must be able to handle all foods, under all conditions.
- Basic math skills.
Preferred Education:
- High School Diploma/G.E.D
Preferred License/Certification/Registration:
- Certified or willing to become certified for food safety
